The telephone service aims to triage symptomatic callers to provide guidance on which healthcare provider the caller should access. If feeling suicidal NHS may call an ambulance for you or assist you in arranging an out of hours hospital appointment.

Befrienders listen to people who are lonely, despairing or considering suicide. They don't judge them, don't tell them what to do. They listen. That may not sound much - but it can make the difference between life and death.
